This Stabilized Turquoise is from the Campito mine in Senora Mexico. Turquoise that comes from the mines in its raw form is called "chalk", it is very soft and is much like soft sidewalk chalk. Most of the turquoise that comes from the mines is soft chalk, it is not hard enough to use for jewellery making purposes and it must be stabilized. The stabilization process is done with a clear resin to make the stone harder and to give a glossy shine, but not to change the colour or composition of the stone. They are not dyed or tinted and will never fade, bleed or change colour. These are not synthetically reconstituted turquoise but genuine stones.
